I ❤️ Siquijor 2024 - Coco Grove - Day 3 - 09/13/2024

From Beach Bummers to Coco Grove Elite: A Siquijor Lunchtime Revelation

After our typhoon-tossed beach hopping adventure, the Sunshine Girls were famished. My stomach was grumbling louder than a disgruntled monkey, and my energy levels were lower than a sloth on a Monday morning. I suggested we head to Runik Resort, a place I had heard whispered about as the hippest spot on the island, boasting modern amenities and a touch of luxury.

However, the price tag for their pool access, a hefty 800 pesos for two hours with consumables, gave me pause. My inner accountant, ever vigilant, calculated the cost per minute and declared it a financial disaster. The Sunshine Girls, ever the optimists, were unfazed. But I, ever the pragmatist, was not convinced. We needed a haven, a place to recharge, but not at the cost of our wallets.

So, with a touch of reluctance, we opted for the humble Coco Grove. I had heard it was a decent place, but I wasn't expecting much. After all, it wasn't the trendy, Instagram-worthy resort with all the bells and whistles. But as we pulled up, my jaw dropped.

The place was a revelation. It was like stepping into a postcard. The European-style architecture, with its rustic charm and classy touches, was nothing short of stunning. The lush greenery, the meticulously manicured gardens, and the sparkling pool created a sense of tranquility that was almost surreal.

We were greeted by friendly staff who ushered us to their restaurant, a haven of culinary delights. I ordered pasta, a dish that always hits the spot, and was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion size. It was enough for two, and the price was surprisingly reasonable, almost affordable.

As we savored our late lunch, the staff's attentiveness and the super-fast Wi-Fi made us feel like we were staying in a five-star hotel. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and exuded an air of sophistication. I felt like an elite, a member of the exclusive Coco Grove club.

The Coco Grove was the perfect antidote to our beach bumming blues. It was a haven, a breather, a place where we could relax, recharge, and forget about the typhoon-ravaged beaches and our dwindling bank accounts. The long drive and the epic fail beach hopping were quickly forgotten as we sunk into the plush chairs, our bellies full of delicious food, and our spirits lifted by the luxurious surroundings.

The Coco Grove, a humble haven in the heart of Siquijor, proved that sometimes, the most unexpected places can offer the most memorable experiences. It was a reminder that sometimes, a touch of luxury can be found in the most unexpected places, and that sometimes, the best things in life are the ones you least expect.
