I ❤️ Siargao 2023 - Day 3 - 09/07/2023

Siargao: Where Spam Dreams Meet a Bleached Reality (and a Cocktail or Two)

Day three in Siargao, and I'm starting to feel like I've been living in a tropical fever dream. It all began with a breakfast of champions – a plate piled high with eggs and spam. Yes, you read that right. Spam. Apparently, it's the only cheap option here, and I'm not one to judge. After all, when you're surrounded by turquoise waters and palm trees, even spam tastes like paradise.

Next up, a van transfer to the Tourism Office. After a quick stop, we were whisked away to the port for our snorkeling adventure.

The boat ride was a blast. The sun was shining, the breeze was cool, and the only sound was the gentle lapping of the waves. We finally arrived at the snorkeling area, and I dove into the water with a sense of childlike wonder. The coral reefs were sadly bleached, but still a sight to behold.

After a refreshing swim, we hopped back on the boat and headed towards Naked Island. Now, before you get any ideas, "naked" doesn't mean what you think it means. It's actually a small, uninhabited island with white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters. There are no trees or plants, hence the name "Naked Island". We spent a good hour or so taking pictures and soaking up the sun. We even tried our hand at drone videos, posing and doing TikTok dances, only to find out the file got corrupted. What a let down!

From Naked Island, it was on to Daku Island. We were all starving by this point, so we eagerly awaited lunch. Lunch in Daku Island was a feast for the senses. The food was curated to read as "Siargao" which in itself is an Instagram worthy shot. The sun was at its peak so we couldn't do much else on the island.

I enjoyed our stay in Guyam. We did a lot of pictures, continued drone shots, even human drone, and met local travelers from Cebu. We shared some travel tips and stories.

As the sun began to set, we made our way back to the mainland. We strolled along the Tourism Road and took in the sights and sounds of Siargao at night. The air was filled with the aroma of grilled seafood, and the sound of laughter and music echoed through the streets.

For dinner, we indulged in a delicious meal of chorizo and pancit canton at Bebie's BBQ. To top off the night, we headed to Barrel Beachfront for a cocktail or two. I opted for the Barrel's Red cocktail – a sweet and tangy concoction that was the perfect way to end a perfect day.

Siargao, you're a whirlwind of adventure, delicious food, and stunning scenery. I'm already counting down the days until I can return. Until then, I'll just have to live vicariously through my photos and memories. And maybe, just maybe, I'll even try to recreate that spam breakfast at home. Who knows, maybe it'll taste even better with a side of Siargao sunshine.
