Planning a trip to Boracay in 2024? Let's make your arrival as smooth as the island's white sand beaches. This blog post details a DIY transfer from Caticlan Airport (MPH) to Boracay Island, saving you money and offering a more independent travel experience.
 
From Airport to Caticlan Ferry Port:
 
Upon exiting Caticlan Airport, head to the other side of the road. You'll easily spot signs advertising tricycle services to the ferry port for 80 pesos per person. Hop in a tricycle—it's a short, inexpensive ride.
 
Navigating Caticlan Jetty Port:
 
At the port, you'll encounter travel agents offering transfer packages. Politely decline their services; you're going DIY! Proceed directly to the port entrance.
 
Inside, find the registration kiosks. Only one person from your group needs to queue to register, providing your IDs and hotel information. This saves valuable time.
 
Next, pay the necessary fees:
 
- Terminal Fee: 150 pesos
- Environmental Fee: 150 pesos
- Boat Fee: 50 pesos
 
Embarkation and the Boat Trip:
 
With your receipts in hand, head to the docking area. Choose the "tourist" lane, present your receipts and boat ticket, and wait for your boat. The boats depart once full, and the trip to Boracay takes approximately 15 minutes.
 
Arrival in Boracay and Getting to Your Hotel:
 
Welcome to Boracay! No further fees are required upon arrival. Head to the tricycle area. You have two options:
 
- Shared Tricycle: Opt for a shared tricycle ride for a budget-friendly 15 pesos per person.
- Private Tricycle: Rent a private tricycle for approximately 150 pesos (negotiable, depending on your hotel's location). Don't hesitate to haggle!
 
And that's it! You've successfully navigated the DIY transfer to Boracay. This method allows you to experience the island's vibrant culture and save money on pre-arranged transfers.
 
Tips for a Smooth Transfer:
 
- Bring Cash: Have sufficient Philippine pesos on hand for all fees and tricycle fares.
- Travel Light: This will make navigating the transfer process much easier.
- Confirm Hotel Details: Have your hotel's name and address readily available for registration.
- Be Polite but Firm: Politely decline unsolicited offers from travel agents.

Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Baguio Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Baguio was the first tourist spot I visited in this humble city. I went there last 2008 with my college friends and I really enjoyed our short stay there. There is no restriction in visiting the area. However, due to its gaining popularity they implemented policies that may annoy some first time travelers.  All visitors entering PMA must have individual valid IDs. A person without a valid ID can't enter PMA. If you're in a group and you don't have ID, you will be instructed to get off the jeepney at the gate and wait for your companions with IDs while they're enjoying the tour. Also, wearing slippers is a big no-no when you wanted to enter its premises. Even though you are wearing your expensive flip-flops the security personnel won't show any mercy and you may be force to await your companion at the gate. Pundaquit Beach Zambales Pundaquit, or Pandakit is in San Antonio Zambales, a small fishing village on an attractive bay with a long white sand beach. It is a small barrio next to a glorious South China Sea and surrounded by paramount mountains. It is home to many fishermen as several boats lined their beach. The sun was glaring as I tried to take in the striking surroundings. The beach was very clean, unlike some of Subic's beaches I visited before.   I was really confused if Cove and Island is the same but according to my research A cove is a small type of bay or coastal inlet. Coves usually have narrow, restricted entrances, are often circular or oval, and are often situated within a larger bay. So definitely, we are not going to ride a boat just to get there.  It took us four hour of bumpy ride to finally reach Subic Olongapo and another hour to get to San Antonio Zambales with just 2 hours of slow traffic and the difference is our total travel time.
