I 🖤 Carte Ruins - Cebu 2023 - 12-08-2023

Exploring the Cartel Ruins: A Mixed Experience   I had mixed feelings about this historical site. While the ruins themselves were interesting to explore, there wasn't much else to see or do in the vicinity. In this blog entry, I will share my thoughts on the ruins, the nearby attractions, and the overall experience.   The Cartel Ruins are undoubtedly a sight to behold. The remnants of the old structures offer a glimpse into the past and showcase the architectural beauty of the bygone era. Walking through the ruins was a unique experience, as I could imagine the hustle and bustle that once filled these walls. However, it is worth noting that the visit to the ruins can be completed in under 15 minutes, which may leave some visitors wanting more.   Adjacent to the ruins, there was a small building that appeared to be a museum. Unfortunately, during my visit, it was closed. It was disappointing not to have the opportunity to delve deeper into the his

A Spiritual Journey to Simala Church: A Place of Faith and Miracles   In the vibrant city of Cebu, lies a sanctuary of faith and devotion - Simala Church. Nestled not too far from Cebu City, this sacred place attracts countless pilgrims seeking solace, divine intervention, and a deeper connection with their spirituality. Recently, I had the opportunity to visit this renowned shrine, and the experience left an indelible mark on my soul.   To ensure a hassle-free trip, my companions and I decided to book a private vehicle to transport us to Simala Church. Although the distance was not considerable, the traffic congestion and rough roads extended our journey to nearly three hours. Nevertheless, the anticipation of reaching our destination kept our spirits high.   As we arrived, we were greeted by a bustling crowd, a testament to the popularity and significance of this holy place. Without delay, we made our way towards the main church, bypassing the mini

I ♥ Basilica del Sto. Nino Cebu City 11/05/2011

After we visited the Metropolitan Cathedral Church we headed to Sto. Nino Church to visit the Magellan’s Cross. We just commuted to get there and lucky for us we weren't lost because my friend knows the direction. After walking for almost 15 minutes we were welcome by a very familiar fast food chains and busy street.  On the other side of the busy street lies the famous Basilica Minore del Sto. Nino. It was Sunday that time and I wasn't surprise to see a lot of people attending the mass. I really respect the Cebuano’s for being religious. Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, a 16th century old Roman Catholic Church, known to be the oldest church in the Philippines. It was built purportedly on the spot where the image of the Santo Niño, a sculpture depicting the Holy Child Jesus done in the style of Flanders found by Spanish explorers of Legazpi Expedition of 1565. The image was allegedly preserved in a burnt wooden box which was left behind during the 1521 Magellan expedition.

I ♥ Magellan Cross Cebu City 11/05/2011

During my elementary days we always discuss the different tourist destination in the Philippines. One of which is the famous Magellan Cross in Cebu City. Magellan's Cross is a Christian cross planted by Portuguese, and Spanish explorers as ordered by Ferdinand Magellan upon arriving in Cebu in the Philippines on (depending on source) April 14 or 21, 1521. I was really fascinated about the history of the cross; how it became the symbol of the Spaniard to conquer the Philippines. Magellan's Cross is one of the most visited tourist attraction of Cebu City. During my first trip in Cebu I wasn't able to visit this popular destination because my friend said that it is just a cross in the middle of the park so we just headed to Bohol which another tourist spot in the Visayan Region. Fortunately, I was able to visit the beautiful city of Cebu again with my college friends. This time, Magellan's cross is included in our itinerary. We were a group of 12 people so we just commu

The Cebuano's are known to be deeply religious people. The majority of its population are Roman Catholic and there are also some followers of Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and among others. If you are going to Cebu you might notice the different churches built within the city. One of which is Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. The Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, located along P. Zamora St., Cebu City, is just less than or the most is 5 minutes walk away from Basilica Minore del Santo Nino. It is the ecclesiastical seat of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Cebu. The Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, one of the oldest and notable churches in the city, is the seat of the Archdiocese of Cebu. The architecture of the church is typical of Spanish colonial churches in the country, namely, squat and with thick walls to withstand typhoons and other natural calamities. The facade features a trefoil-shaped pediment, which is decorated with carved relieves of floral motifs, an IHS inscription and a pair of gr
