I ♥ Basilica del Sto. Nino Cebu City 11/05/2011


After we visited the Metropolitan Cathedral Church we headed to Sto. Nino Church to visit the Magellan’s Cross. We just commuted to get there and lucky for us we weren't lost because my friend knows the direction. After walking for almost 15 minutes we were welcome by a very familiar fast food chains and busy street. 

On the other side of the busy street lies the famous Basilica Minore del Sto. Nino. It was Sunday that time and I wasn't surprise to see a lot of people attending the mass. I really respect the Cebuano’s for being religious.
Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, a 16th century old Roman Catholic Church, known to be the oldest church in the Philippines. It was built purportedly on the spot where the image of the Santo Niño, a sculpture depicting the Holy Child Jesus done in the style of Flanders found by Spanish explorers of Legazpi Expedition of 1565. The image was allegedly preserved in a burnt wooden box which was left behind during the 1521 Magellan expedition. Since then, Santo Niño become the most popular symbol of Cebu and has acquired a huge number of devotees over the centuries.
When we were finished taking tons of pictures in Magellan’s Cross and the church’s exterior we headed to the museum inside the Basilica.
The museum inside the Basilica showcases the history of Christianity in Cebu. Antique objects are on display, including century-old furniture, priestly vestments and the Santo Nino’s old cloaks donated by individuals over the centuries. A visit to Basilica Minore del Santo Niño is another historical tour that you do not want to miss. It feels like you travel back in time and this trip will turn your Cebu vacation into an illuminating experience.

Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Baguio Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Baguio was the first tourist spot I visited in this humble city. I went there last 2008 with my college friends and I really enjoyed our short stay there. There is no restriction in visiting the area. However, due to its gaining popularity they implemented policies that may annoy some first time travelers.  All visitors entering PMA must have individual valid IDs. A person without a valid ID can't enter PMA. If you're in a group and you don't have ID, you will be instructed to get off the jeepney at the gate and wait for your companions with IDs while they're enjoying the tour. Also, wearing slippers is a big no-no when you wanted to enter its premises. Even though you are wearing your expensive flip-flops the security personnel won't show any mercy and you may be force to await your companion at the gate.   Batis Aramin Lucban Quezon Batis Aramin Resort, Hotel and Adventure Camp is just one of the few resorts near my hometown Tayabas, Quezon. We went there when we visited the well-known Catholic Pilgrimage site called “Kamay ni Hesus” which lies on the foot of Mt. Banahaw last 2011. You won't be lost to find the place because it is just on the other side of the popular retreat camp Kamay ni Hesus which is located in Malupak, Lucban Quezon. We don't have enough money to pay the 100 pesos entrance fee but because we wanted to explore the place we just made an alibi to the security personnel that we just wanted to do an ocular visit and see if we wanted to stay. The security personnel was very kind and he let the 5 of us enter the vicinity we just left our ID's for record updating.  There were a lot of guess that time.
