I ♥ Mangrove Paddle Boat Tour 06/08/12

The Mangrove Paddle Boat Tour is a highly recommended activity when in Palawan. Aside from being an educational tour, it will help make tourists realize "why" the province cradles many of the world's most clean and beautiful beaches and other natural wonders because of the bakawan or mangroves existence in the area. If you were not able to visit the Underground River this is a good detour.
If there are a lot of tourist just like the time we arrived there, the boat will be boarded by10 people including the 2 boatman.

It's the first time I saw a woodpecker and a mangrove cat snake. I'm really not comfortable when the water became murky because i heard Palawan have wild crocodile that eats human. LOL One tourist even tried to scare a poisonous snake. WTF... Its a really nice detour though. It reminds me of Loboc river only with mangroves. Its also my first time to see the mangroves in a closer view.
100 year old mangroves
The visitors are allowed to alight the boats and walk on the roots of the mangroves. Guides also pick up woodworms or ‘tamilok’ as they are called locally. Tamilok is favorite dish of the locals.
How do we get there.

 1. From Sabang port one will need to make a 15 minute trek from Sabang’s port area through Sabang beach resorts. The tour is on the other side, walk to the east side (when facing the sea, it’s in your right side. You can ask people that you meet as there are many during daytime.

At the end of the path you’ll arrive at Michi’s Cottages where you will see the office for the Mangrove Paddle Boat Tour

2. The entrance fee is 150 pesos and you will need to register. The tour is approximately 45 mins from starting point.

3. You can also walk the same path as you go back.

It is common to see poisonous snakes on the branches of the overhanging mangrove trees. Our guide said no worries because they are nocturnal.
