Discovering the Beauty of Sumilon Island: A Must-Visit in South Cebu
 
During my tour of South Cebu in 2023, a visit to Sumilon Island was an absolute must. After an exhilarating experience of whale watching in Oslob, our private car took us to this stunning destination. In this blog entry, I will share my memorable experience on Sumilon Island, from the crystal-clear waters of the sandbar to the overall tour arrangements.
 
One of the highlights of Sumilon Island is its mesmerizing sandbar. As we arrived, we were greeted by a stretch of powdery white sand and crystal-clear waters, beckoning us to take a dip. Outrigger boats are available to transport visitors from the mainland to the island for a small fee. The boat ride took approximately 20 minutes, offering scenic views along the way.
 
Upon reaching the island, it became apparent that there are no shades along the beach area. To ensure a comfortable stay, it is advisable to bring a small tent or make use of the shaded tables and chairs available on the land area. Additionally, it is recommended to bring your own food and drinks, as there are limited dining options on the island. While there is a private resort on the island, it is exclusively for resort guests, leaving the other side of the sandbar open for public enjoyment.
 
The allure of Sumilon Island lies in its inviting and crystal-clear waters. As I ventured into the sea, I was captivated by the vibrant marine life and the serenity of the surroundings. The tour allowed us an hour to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of the sandbar, making the most of our time in this idyllic paradise. Afterward, we had the option to join any boat that would dock to return to the mainland.
 
After indulging in the water activities, including whale watching and strolling along the sandbar, it was time to freshen up. Fortunately, there are bathing facilities available on the island, allowing visitors to take a refreshing shower and change into dry clothes. This ensured that we were comfortable and ready for our next adventure.
 
My visit to Sumilon Island was a truly enchanting experience. From the breathtaking sandbar to the crystal-clear waters, this island offers a slice of paradise in South Cebu. While the lack of shades along the beach area and limited dining options may require some extra preparation, the natural beauty and tranquility of Sumilon Island make it a must-visit destination. Whether you're a nature lover or simply seeking a serene escape, a trip to Sumilon Island will leave you with unforgettable memories.

Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Baguio Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Baguio was the first tourist spot I visited in this humble city. I went there last 2008 with my college friends and I really enjoyed our short stay there. There is no restriction in visiting the area. However, due to its gaining popularity they implemented policies that may annoy some first time travelers.  All visitors entering PMA must have individual valid IDs. A person without a valid ID can't enter PMA. If you're in a group and you don't have ID, you will be instructed to get off the jeepney at the gate and wait for your companions with IDs while they're enjoying the tour. Also, wearing slippers is a big no-no when you wanted to enter its premises. Even though you are wearing your expensive flip-flops the security personnel won't show any mercy and you may be force to await your companion at the gate.   Batis Aramin Lucban Quezon Batis Aramin Resort, Hotel and Adventure Camp is just one of the few resorts near my hometown Tayabas, Quezon. We went there when we visited the well-known Catholic Pilgrimage site called “Kamay ni Hesus” which lies on the foot of Mt. Banahaw last 2011. You won't be lost to find the place because it is just on the other side of the popular retreat camp Kamay ni Hesus which is located in Malupak, Lucban Quezon. We don't have enough money to pay the 100 pesos entrance fee but because we wanted to explore the place we just made an alibi to the security personnel that we just wanted to do an ocular visit and see if we wanted to stay. The security personnel was very kind and he let the 5 of us enter the vicinity we just left our ID's for record updating.  There were a lot of guess that time.
