I ❤️ Kawaguchiko Lake - Tokyo 2023 - 10-20-2023

An Unforgettable Journey to Lake Kawaguchiko

The day was filled with surprises as I embarked on an adventure to Lake Kawaguchiko, following an awe-inspiring visit to Mt Fuji’s Chureito Pagoda. Little did I know that my quota of surprises was far from being exhausted.

The journey began with a leisurely walk through local farms, leading us to the Shimo-Yoshida station of the JR line. While there are various ways to reach Lake Kawaguchiko, the train undoubtedly offers the fastest transit. Our ICOCA cards served as our tickets for this ride. The trains, adorned with popular anime characters like Naruto and Thomas and Train, were a delightful sight, adding a touch of whimsy to our journey.

As the train glided smoothly along the tracks, I marveled at the efficiency of the Mt Fuji tour. The landscape, with Mt Fuji as its centerpiece, transformed with every passing minute, offering a visual treat that was both dynamic and captivating. After a 45-minute ride filled with picturesque views, we arrived at Kawaguchiko train station.

The station offered OMNI buses, aptly named the BLUE, GREEN, and RED lines, to explore the area. These buses provide a convenient hop-on-hop-off service at a fixed fee. Alternatively, one can also use the IC card (Pasmo/Suica from Tokyo) for a single destination trip.

The bus ride was a tranquil experience, the day's activities had left me tired and I drifted off to sleep. As I awoke, the stunning view of Lake Kawaguchiko greeted me. We disembarked at our stop, ready to explore this beautiful lake that had already exceeded my expectations.
As we bid farewell to the serene Lake Kawaguchi, we were reminded of the beauty that lay in its simplicity - the parks, the seating areas along the beaches, and the breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji.
Basking in the cool breeze under the sun while taking in the picturesque scenery was an experience that will be etched in our memories forever.
Our return journey to Tokyo was equally eventful. With a tight schedule, we had to catch the earliest bus. However, it wasn't as straightforward as we had hoped. With a horde of tourists sharing our plan, the buses were jam-packed.
Luck was on our side, though, when we managed to squeeze into the second bus. Despite the crowd, the captivating views outside kept us entertained throughout the hour-long ride to Kawaguchiko station. From there, a direct bus took us back to Tokyo.

Our day trip from Lake Kawaguchi back to Tokyo was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our Japan visit. The journey, which is roughly 2.5 hours each way, is easily manageable on a local train or bus, eliminating the need for an organized tour. The serenity of Kawaguchiko lake and its surroundings is a must-experience for anyone visiting Japan.
