I ❤️ Oslob Whale Watching - Cebu 2023 - 12-08-2023

A Memorable Adventure: Oslob Whale Watching

Embarking on our South Cebu tour, our first stop was the highly anticipated Oslob Whale Watching experience. Opting for a private tour, we were thrilled with our decision as it turned out to be the best choice we made throughout the day. From the early morning meet-up to witnessing the incredible whale sharks, every moment of this adventure left us in awe.

Our day began with a 2 am meet-up with our driver. We embarked on a two-hour journey from Moalboal to Oslob in the comfort of a private car. As we arrived, we were taken aback to see a long queue of over 20 people already waiting. To our surprise, the line extended all the way down the street, spanning approximately 100 meters. The sight of the growing crowd as the sun rose at 6 am left us amazed.

As the first ones in line, we were fortunate to kickstart the activity. Before diving in, we attended a seminar that provided valuable information about the activity, including the dos and don'ts, emergency procedures, and guidelines. Equipped with life vests, we hopped on a small banca and set off. Within a mere five minutes from the shore, we were greeted by the sight of a magnificent 10-foot-long baby shark. It was an exhilarating moment, and I couldn't contain my excitement at seeing a whale shark in its natural habitat.

To capture this incredible experience, we had rented a GoPro camera. While my mom preferred to stay in the safety of the small boat due to her fear of drowning, the attentive tour guides assured her that they would assist her and even managed to capture a photo of her with the majestic shark. Our private car driver had advised us to discreetly offer tips to the guides, which motivated them to go the extra mile in capturing stunning photos and videos for us. Amidst the initial chaos, I noticed a well-organized system in place. The passenger boats were lined up in a straight formation, while a small boat acted as a feeder, guiding the whale sharks along a straight path. This efficient approach impressed me, despite the reservations some may have about its impact on eco-tourism.

In just 30 minutes, our encounter with the whale sharks came to an end, and we made our way back to the shore. After a quick shower to refresh ourselves, we eagerly continued our journey to our next destination. Reflecting on the experience, I firmly believe that Oslob Whale Watching offers a win-win situation for everyone involved. It provides an efficient and thrilling adventure for visitors while contributing to the preservation and appreciation of these magnificent creatures.

Our first-time Oslob Whale Watching experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From the early morning anticipation to witnessing the awe-inspiring whale sharks, every aspect of this adventure left an indelible mark on our hearts. The well-organized system, the opportunity to capture unforgettable moments, and the commitment to eco-tourism made this an experience worth cherishing. If you're seeking a remarkable encounter with these gentle giants, Oslob Whale Watching should be at the top of your travel bucket list.
