I ❤️ Siquijor 2024 - 09/12/2024 - Day 2 - Wet Tour

Sunshine Girls, Rain or Shine: A Siquijor 2024 Adventure (Day 2)

Day two in Siquijor dawned… well, it didn’t really dawn. It was more like a “drenching.” A tropical typhoon was making its presence known in the Visayas, and Siquijor, our island paradise, was unfortunately in its path. The sky was a gloomy gray, and the rain was coming down in sheets. But, as the Sunshine Girls, we were not about to let a little rain dampen our spirits (pun intended!). We had paid for this tour, and we were determined to make the most of it, rain or shine.

We started the day with dry clothes and a positive attitude, hoping the sun would eventually break through the clouds. We met our tour guide, Ryan, a friendly guy in his 30s with a wife and kids. He was a bit of a comedian, and our introduction was a bit… unexpected. He looked at us with a twinkle in his eye and asked, "Why visit Siquijor?"

Now, Siquijor is known for its mysteries and paranormal activity. It's the kind of place where you expect to be greeted with a whisper of "Welcome to the island of enchantment," not a blunt "Why are you here?" Honestly, my first instinct was to retort with a sassy "Why not?" but I decided to keep things friendly and steer the conversation. "Why did we come?" I asked, feigning confusion. "I don't know, ask my travel buddies." We all laughed, and the awkwardness dissolved into a lighthearted exchange. Ryan explained that they were really pushing tourism in Siquijor, and he was excited to share all the hidden gems with us.

Meanwhile, the rain was still going strong. It was like Mother Nature was having a personal water fight with us, and we were losing. By the time we reached our first stop, Pitogo Cliff Nature Park, we were soaked through. Despite the downpour, the views were breathtaking. The cliffs were rugged and dramatic, and the ocean was a wild, churning mass of gray. It was a scene straight out of a moody, romantic film. Unfortunately, our cameras weren't waterproof, so we couldn't capture the beauty of the moment. We decided to move on to our next destination, the Cambugahay Falls, hoping for a little sunshine and a chance to dry off.

So, there we were, the Sunshine Girls, drenched to the bone, but still smiling. We were on an adventure, and nothing, not even a tropical typhoon, was going to stop us. Stay tuned for more updates from our Siquijor adventure!
