I ♥ Aninuan Falls - Oriental Mindoro 10/20/2011

We wanted to try something new in Puerto Galera so we decided to hike on of the local waterfalls there. Uninuan Waterfalls is located in Brgy. Uninuan just a stone throw away from white beach resort. . It is nestled at the foot of the towering Mt. Malasimbo and is under the vicinity of Brgy. Aninuan, hence the name Aninuan Falls. To get there we rode a tricycle to bring us to Brgy. Aninuan jump off point. We were greeted by a local tour guide asking for a fee but because we are feeling a bit adventurous we opt to hike for one hour.

Going to Aninuan falls can be tricky because there are a lot of ways branching to different communities in the area. We just follow some old trails and asked politely to locals to get there. We crossed the stream a lot of times and luckily we didn’t quit and continue walking. We finally reached the falls after an hour of spotting scattered trails.

We paid 20 pesos for the entrance fee. The sight of the waterfalls is not as grand as some falls in the Philippines. You’ll notice the crystal clear water and well maintained place. The caretakers are also selling coconut fruit for 20 pesos perfect for chilling in the afternoon sun.

We took a lot of pictures and enjoy our stay here. It rain so hard after 3 in the afternoon, the place feels a little creepier when there is no sunset. It feels like someone or something is looking at us. We’ve decided to go back to hotel after packing our things. Lucky for us some of the locals will be going back too and they accompany us back to the jump off point. Walking back to the starting point is way different from going to the falls.

It rained so hard that we could not tell if the tracks were walking will lead us to the starting point. I was so glad that the locals that accompany us know the place. I cannot imagine how the two of us will get out of the Forrest without getting lost. We finally reached the jump off point and from there we walked back to the hotel by walking along cemented road uphill down to Tamaraw beach.
I t was such experience to try in Puerto Galera. I always dream of walking while it’s raining and it happened here. We are tired of hiking and enjoying the humble waterfalls of Aninuan but we still swam the Puerto Galera’s white beach and end the day by looking at Puerto Galera’s sun set.
