Boracay 2024 Travel Vlog: Day 2 - Parasailing and Other Slightly Terrifying Delights
Day two in Boracay started with a bang – or rather, a series of zooms and near-misses. My carefully planned itinerary involving leisurely strolls and mango shakes took an unexpected turn.
First, there was the jet ski. Jetski Staff, as I’ve decided to call him (because everyone deserves a name, right?), was a feisty little beast. I’m pretty sure he was judging my driving skills, which were, to put it mildly, non-existent. I managed to stay upright, mostly, and even executed a few (admittedly wobbly) turns. Jetski Staff, however, seemed less than impressed.
Next up: the speedboat. This wasn’t your average, gentle putt-putt. This was a Sumo-wrestling-champion-on-water kind of speedboat. The ride to the parasailing platform felt like a James Bond movie, only instead of suave sophistication, I was clinging to the side, shouting like I was on a rollercoaster ride.
And then came the parasailing itself. Manong Parasailing, the staff member, described it as exciting but nerve-wracking. He didn't exactly sell it as a relaxing afternoon pastime.
Benigno and Badet's ascent to the parasailing platform was… interesting. I’m not sure what they expected, but it definitely wasn’t a gentle lift. It was more like being catapulted, like particularly enthusiastic human-shaped projectiles. Once up there, the view was spectacular, breathtaking, postcard-worthy… and terrifying. The height was exhilarating but also made me acutely aware of just how far down the water was. My internal monologue consisted mostly of variations on “Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god.”
My companions, armed with a 360° camera, seemed to be having the time of their lives. They were chitchatting like they were at an afternoon tea party. Their post-parasailing assessment? “Fun and exciting!” I, on the other hand, am still processing the event. Will I do it again? Maybe yes, maybe no. It depends on how much tequila I’ve consumed beforehand.
So, there you have it. Day two in Boracay: a whirlwind of speed, height, and questionable decision-making. But hey, at least I got some amazing photos (thanks to my brave companions).
